New Perspectives: Japan The New Perspectives: Japan (NP:J) program was initially designed for teachers and students of Japanese at the middle and high school level throughout the United States. At the request of American teachers of other disciplines, the Introduction to Japan curriculum was designed to allow teachers of any discipline to bring student groups on NP:J. School groups may now choose from a range of specially designed curricula that are appropriate for students already studying Japanese as well as those interested in an introduction to the culture of Japan.
